This is probably the best one day white water rafting river on earth. The rapids on the Zambezi River are officially defined as “Grade 5” by the British Canoe Union thus extremely difficult, long and violent rapids, steep gradients, big drops and pressure areas”. This is a high volume, pool-drop River with little exposed rock in the rapids and in the pools below the rapids.Clients should be reasonably fit for this activity, as there is a steep walk into & out gorge. Between July and mid-February its low water thus the river will be at its lowest level, making it the best time to raft the Zambezi. Trips are conducted between rapids 1 and 19 covering a distance of approximately 25kilometres.The period between February and July will mark the high water season thus rains from Angola and Zambia will lead to high inflows of water causing the rise in the river levels. The water level in the Zambezi River rises, flows more rapidly creating whirlpools in the first section of the normal low water run thus leading to the rafting trips being moved downstream to rapids 11 to 24 covering a distance of approximately 18km.Guests are advised not to bring valuables, jewellery and passports for the rafting trips.
